What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather

Okay guys! It’s getting warmer out, and we are in that weird in-between phase of the seasons where it’s kind of warm in the afternoon, but still chilly in the mornings and evenings.

I’m going to help you out by explaining how to determine what to wear in 70 degree weather, as well as some outfit ideas to spark inspo!

I totally get it: Getting dressed for the day can be a bit of a challenge. You don’t want to be too hot, but you also don’t want to freeze your butt off either.

I live on the east coast, and the weather here definitely has a mind of its’ own, especially in the spring! Every morning I need to check the weather widget on my phone.

I glance at it and see that the high for the day will be 70 degrees. But what to wear?

Check the Air Moisture for Outfit Selection

There are two weather factors to keep in mind when dressing for the day. That would be the dew point and the humidity level.

Hot air tends to hold more moisture than cool air. When you are picking out what to wear for 70 degree temperatures, knowing the dew point and humidity will help you decide whether to opt for layers, tight clothing, or loose clothing.

Be aware of the geographical area you are in (or traveling to!). 70 degrees in Philadelphia does not feel the same as 70 degrees in Arizona, for instance.

  • The comfortable humidity level outside for most people is between 30% and 50%.
  • We tend to feel uncomfortable at dew points of 65-69 degrees.

You want to stay stylish, but also comfortable! Keep an eye on your phone’s weather app so you can monitor it.

What is Your Fashion Blood Type?

Another aspect to consider: Are you hot blooded or cold blooded? Well, in other words, do you tend to get hot rather quickly?

I have a co-worker who gets uncomfortable if our office atmosphere is around 70 degrees.

He compromises with me and the other ladies – who always feel cold – by pointing a plug-in fan at his desk!

If you’ve ever worked in an office like me, you know it is always a war over the thermostat, HAHA.

If your body runs hot, 70 degrees might feel like 90 degrees!

Vice versa, if you get cold easily, 70 degrees might feel like 55 degrees.

Assess how your body reacts to hot and cold environments and keep that in mind as you build your outfit.

Inspo for What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather

Now that we have that down, I want to share some 70 degree weather casual outfit inspiration!

Here I am breaking down 4 of my own outfits to give you some ideas. My style varies most of the time, where some days I feel dressy, and others more casual, with always a subtle boho glam feel.

You can take these looks and warp them into your own however you like!

What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather for an Evening Dinner

Shorts for me in 70 degree weather is a no-go!

I get chilly too easily, and the air gets frigid once the sun goes down. For this ensemble, I stuck with a relaxed Chanel print t-shirt with cream colored high-waisted trousers.

Comfortable, yet classy and sophisticated for a lovely dinner! I topped it off with pearl earrings and a costume pearl necklace.

My jewelry complimented the iconic Chanel logo (with pearls being associated with the fashion house) and paid tribute to the Asian sushi spot my husband and I were headed to for my 32nd birthday.

What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather for an Early Brunch

Okay, so, to be honest, I didn’t actually wear this outfit to brunch because there was a snow storm that had happened at the time.

BUT I would TOTALLY wear this outfit to brunch any other day. 😄

Pictured is a flowy black dress with sheer striped detailing on the hem and cuffs (from Amazon Fashion) over buttery soft LuLaRoe gray leggings.

To add a pop of cheery color, I accented it with yellow accessories: a cuff bracelet, shoulder bag, and tassel earrings.

Lastly, I threw on black booties to complete the look!

The leggings can be slipped off if it gets too warm in the afternoon to stay cool! (I don’t know about you, but I’d probably be too tipsy from brunch to go anywhere after that. 🤣

What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather During the Day

It was bonafide cowgirl boots, high waisted skinny jeans, a tube crop top and a tuxedo shirt for a gorgeous day spent picking sunflowers with friends at a local NJ farm!

70 degrees is too chilly for me to bare my legs, so I stuck with jeans on this outing. The women’s tuxedo shirt served as the perfect layer for the crop top because it was a thin and soft material that gave me warmth minus the heaviness of a sweater.

Whether you are at a theme park, a barbeque, or maybe even a mid-day wine tasting, light layers in your outfit will keep your options for comfort open in 70 degree weather.

What to Wear in 70 Degree Weather at a Formal Event

*You don’t always have to wear dresses to formal events!* 😁 – especially when it is 70 degrees! Try this look: silk joggers with a chiffon or sequin top! Still dapper, but relaxed and chic!

Is the event you are going to indoor or outdoor? Keep that in mind when selecting your formal attire.

I went with loose pants so that if I do get a little sweaty, then my legs will have some air inside!

However, if you want to go with a dress, please do so by all means! It is really your preference and how you want to express yourself in the warm weather.

What Will You Wear?

I hope these tips sparked some inspiration for your next outfit! Only YOU know how you will feel in a 70 degree climate; so, try on some things in your closet, have fun, and base your outfit around that 😄
